Happy Holidays from Finchy

G’day Friends,
It’s been too long since my last blog - due to my travels - so I thought it would be a good time to catch up now as you allow the turkey dinners to settle.
My family and I enjoyed the Thanksgiving holidays at home in the North Palm Beach/Jupiter area where the population doubles during “The Season” with the snow birds venturing down to the Sunshine State to spend time with family and play some of our great golf courses. The courses are in fantastic shape early this season with the greens enjoying the cooler weather as well. Many days are in the cool sixties, just beautiful. No wonder why so many northerners spend their winters here!
I recently returned from a 3 week trip “Down Under” where I played a couple of “old guys” events with my buddies. I surprised myself with 3rd and 2nd place finishes and actually felt like a player again for a short time. I’ll be 50 in two years and look forward to playing a few Senior events mixed between my CBS announcing duties throughout the PGA Tour Season.
We start again on CBS in late January at the FBR Open in Scottsdale, AZ which begins a four week West Coast swing for our CBS team. We then head across the mountains to San Diego for The Buick Invitational, played on this year’s US Open venue, Torrey Pines, where we last watched Tiger in his amazing victory over Rocco Mediate.
The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am follows, and I must admit this is our favourite week of the year, as we all stay at The Lodge at Pebble Beach and enjoy the week’s superb atmosphere and majestic scenery. The Northern Trust Open in LA GC is played Feb 16-22 at the famed Riviera - that winds up our four week swing on CBS, with an always exciting tournament played on one of the great old courses on the PGA Tour. I’m looking forward to joining the crew in January, when you can sit back and enjoy the crisp, clear days, amazing vistas and lush green courses while listening to CBS the #1 team in golf broadcasting.
I wish you all a joyous Holiday Season and will stay in touch with more blogs in the New Year. . .
All the best,
Finchy
