Today we see if Tiger has fully recovered from his left knee reconstruction when he takes on virtually unknown Brendan Jones in the first round of the Accenture Match Play Championship held in Arizona.

I believe Tiger will play just as well as before his exit from the Tour last June, and will be “chomping at the bit” to compete.  He has to be a strong favourite to win his fourth Match Play title this Sunday:  5 to 1.

Watch for Phil to improve on his poor Matchplay record as well after his thrilling finish to win the Northern Trust Open last weekend.  Phil lead by 4 after 54 holes, and then eagled the 1st on Sunday.  This was matched by Freddie Couples, then Phil floundered with 5 bogies and no birdies through the 15th.  Making sensational birdies on 16 and 17, then a six footer for par at 18 - Big Phil beat Steve Stricker by a shot at 15 under par.  Back to back titles at Riviera.

I’m looking forward to watching Tiger today and see how his swing has changed.  More to come this week including a recap of the West Coast Swing.

Cheers,

Finchy
