A Major Moment in the Golf World

I had a blast working for both networks (CBS and TNT) this past week. I worked 18 hours for TNT during the week and 10 more for CBS on the weekend, including stints on the internet for PGA.com. Hazeltine was a wonderful course and highly regarded by all the players. It will play host to the Ryder Cup in 2016.
What a fantastic win for Y.E. Yang at yesterday’s PGA Championship. No one, including myself, thought Tiger would lose, and after Padraig self destructed with an eight at the 8th, I thought Tiger only needed to remain standing to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy for his record equaling 5th time.
Yang had different visions and continued his solid play holding Tiger at bay until his sensational chip at the 14th hole. Tiger seemed stunned and although he birdied, was incapable of matching Yang for the next four holes. He finished second in the PGA at Hazeltine, like he did in 2002.
Yang’s victory is great for golf worldwide, and will spark a new interest not only in Korea, but throughout all of Asia. The Korean ladies dominate the LPGA Tour and it was only a matter of time before an Asian born gent won one of golf’s four Majors.
Like his countryman, K.J. Choi, Yang is a tremendous athlete and fitness fanatic. He will be a great role model for future Asian born golfers, and encourage more Asian Tour players to join the PGA Tours.
